ArmInfo. The defense team of Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, the leader of the Sacred Struggle movement, intends to file about 100 lawsuits for slander against their client, as reported by lawyer Hovhannes Khudoyan.
According to him, alongside with the unlawful arrests of Archbishop Bagrat and other participants of the Sacred Struggle by law enforcement agencies, there has been a deliberate information campaign led by the political majority and various propagandists, accompanied by violations of the presumption of innocence, insults and slander. The lawyer believes that this campaign was aimed at concealing the illegality of political persecution and, to a greater extent, preparing for further illegal actions, such as the attack on the Mother See of Etchmiadzin.
"We also promised not to leave this illegal behavior unanswered. A few days ago, lawsuits were filed against Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan, MP Vahagn Aleksanyan, leader of the Republic Party Aram Sargsyan and his associates - Ani Khachatryan and Hayk Sahakyan, propagandist-expert from the ruling Civil Contract party Harutyun Mkrtchyan and the "notorious slanderer" Styopa Safaryan. The above- mentioned persons were chosen randomly from over a hundred possible defendants. New lawsuits will be filed in the near future," the lawyer noted in his Facebook post.
