


ArmInfo. On July 22, due to the penetration of a tropical warm air wave from the south, a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius was recorded in Armenia for the first time since 1989.
As reported by the press service of the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center of the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia, the high temperture is expected to persist in the Ararat Valley and Syunik region, as well as in Yerevan. From 16:00 to 17:00, the temperature in these regions may reach up to +38 to +40 degrees. In this regard, the Hydrometeorological Center warns of a high fire hazard in these zones, as well as in the foothills of Aragatsotn, Kotayk and Vayots Dzor. According to the source, on July 22, as well as in the afternoons of July 25-26, there may be short-term rains with thunderstorms and possible hail in some areas. The wind is expected to blow from the west at a speed of 2-5 m/s, but during a thunderstorm it may increase to 17-20 m/s. In the evening from July 21 to 26, the wind speed may increase in Armavir and the foothills of Kotayk and Aragatsotn up to 15-18 m/s.
