ArmInfo. An Armenian court has imposed an interim measure by freezing the accounts of Arsen Torosyan, member of the ruling Civil Contract faction in the National Assembly, following a lawsuit filed by philanthropist and president of the Tashir Group of Companies Samvel Karapetyan. Torosyan has verified this information.
In early July, ArmInfo reported, citing the judicial information portal Datalex.am, that Samvel Karapetyan , the head of the Tashir Group of Companies, had filed a lawsuit against members of the ruling Civil Contract faction Arsen Torosyan and Hayk Konjoryan for offensive statements and slander. Karapetyan is demanding that the court compel Arsen Torosyan and Hayk Konjoryan to publicly apologize to him for their offensive expressions and refute the information they shared during their speeches from the rostrum of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on June 17 and 18. Additionally, he is seeking compensation in the amount of 9 million drams.
Former Armenian Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan accused Karapetyan of having ties to "Lubyanka" - the FSB (according to Torosyan - "Ljublyanka") from the parliamentary rostrum. Samo petitioned the court for the application of an interim measure in the amount of 9 million drams, and for reasons and justifications that are still unclear to me. The court granted this petition. We will address this legal practice later, when not only do some people sue politicians for political statements, but the courts also make such decisions," the pro-government MP wrote on social media. According to him, he has petitioned to cancel this "unreasonable decision." "I am not going to sell my property and leave Armenia, especially out of fear of Samo," he noted.
