Nikol Pashinyan: One of these security factors is Armenia serving as   crossroads for international freight transportation

ArmInfo.  The Republic of Armenia is interested in opening transport infrastructures in the region, including routes from Armenia to Armenia through the  territory of Azerbaijan, from Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan through the  territory of Armenia, bilateral trade turnover, international  communication from Armenia through the territory of Azerbaijan to  third countries and vice versa, and transit transportation. Armenian  Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made this statement during a press  conference on July 16, while addressing questions from journalists.

He once again emphasized that all these processes should take place  under the jurisdiction, sovereignty and within the territorial  integrity of the Republic of Armenia.  "This is important to record,  because any further discussions were and will be held in this  context. That is, we have never discussed, are not discussing and  will not discuss anything that would contradict this position," the  head of government emphasized. At the same time, he pointed our that  the Crossroads of Peace  project, which aims to unblock transport  communications, indicates that Armenia is ready for certain  simplifications. "Today, there is competition among countries in the  world in terms of cargo transportation, transportation of energy  resources, etc. through their own country. This must also be taken  into account," Pashinyan said. 

The Prime Minister expressed surprise that certain individuals and  forces are trying to present the relaunch of the railway through  Armenia as a tragedy. In his opinion, the real tragedy is the absence  of transit railway through the country. "When they say that the  country's security is primarily linked to the army, it means that  there is no security,  security should be dependent on other  factors," the Prime Minister noted, expressing confidence that  Armenia will become a crossroads for international cargo  transportation, which is also one of these security factors.  Pashinyan expressed his willingness to make Armenia a transit  country, regionally, internationally and globally. "And, of course,  we must try to offer attractive conditions under the jurisdiction and  sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia  to convince international  investors that this is the right path, this is a safe and effective  investment environment," the head of government emphasized. He noted  that trust in the investment environment can attract global players.  "Discussions are ongoing in all these areas," he concluded.
