ArmInfo. As a result of social networks and media monitoring carried out by the staff of the Human Rights Defender's office, as well as a lawyer's appeal to the Ombudsman's hotline, information was received about the detention of a mother with minor children by court decision, with the youngest child just being 8 months old.
"We consider it necessary to specifically emphasize that, according to the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Armenia "On Human Rights Defender," the Defender is not authorized to interfere in judicial proceedings or the powers of judges in a specific case. However, issues concerning the protection of citizens' and children' rights fall within the Defender's direct attention, and, upon her instructions, appropriate measures have been and continue to be taken to safeguard the rights of citizens, including ensuring child care," the Ombudsman's Office press service reported.
