ArmInfo. There is one uncomfortable question: how many times can a situation declared as a "red line" be changed to become yellow or green. This question was raised by Tatevik Hayrapetyan, expert on Azerbaijani studies, in light of today's statement by Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Mnatsakan Safaryan on the possibility of transferring the route through Syunik under external management if all procedures are followed.
In this regard, Hayrapetyan noted that on September 18, 2024, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that "Armenia wants and is ready to provide a corridor for Azerbaijan on the same terms on which Iran provides it." Taking into account these two statements, the expert wondered exactly when Iran had handed over control over its territory to a third party. She clarified that it was actually about the implementation of customs control, to which the Azerbaijani side quite reasonably agrees.
"Another question is whether Armenia will use the territory of Azerbaijan by conducting customs checks through a third party, or will Azerbaijan not allow any third party presence?" Hayrapetyan noted. Additionally, she asked a rhetorical question regarding which third party could gain control over the territory. "Either you give a corridor, or you don't," the expert clarified.
