ArmInfo. The Investigative Committee of Armenia reports that seven people have been detained in the framework of a criminal case on the preparation of a "terrorist act".
The press service of the department reported that investigative measures, including searches at several addresses, were carried out as part of the main case on the preparation of a terrorist act, as well as the storage of weapons, ammunition, etc.
According to the source, during the searches, electrical explosive devices were found, including explosives, fuses and detonators intended for remote launch, as well as a combat grenade, a grenade detonator and radio communications equipment.
The Investigative Committee of Armenia added that seven people were detained, and a public criminal prosecution was initiated against one of the detainees under Part 1 of Article 43-308 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (preparation of a terrorist act). The department added that investigative measures are ongoing.
It is noteworthy that in a conversation with journalists, Gegham Manukyan, a member of the Armenian parliament from the opposition faction "Armenia", predicted the further development of the situation even before the Investigative Committee of Armenia's statement was released, and was sure that airsoft equipment would be used against the detainees in the future.
He said that one of the detainees is a technician and is preparing an airsoft game. "There are stores in Yerevan that sell airsoft equipment, including small plastic balls. Our representatives of the National Security Service (NSS) considered the balls found for this game to be preparation for a terrorist attack," the deputy explained. At the same time, Manukyan noted that this case is being considered separate from the case of the "alleged coup".
Early this morning, law enforcement officials of Armenia conducted searches in the homes of members of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation "Dashnaktsutyun" (ARF), including the member of the Armenian parliament from the opposition faction "Armenia" Gegham Manukyan. Searches were also conducted at the head of the staff of the supreme body of the ARF Vahagn Matinyan, member of the Yerevan city committee of the ARF Arsen Martoyan and at the home of member of the Council of Elders of the Yeghvard community Gevorg Muradyan.
