
ArmInfo. The sixth meeting of the Armenia-EU Partnership Committee, formed on the basis of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), was held on July 8 in Brussels.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, the meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia Armen Ghazaryan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan and Deputy Managing Director of the European External Action Service for Eastern Europe and Russia Audron Perkauskene.
During the meeting, significant progress in the partnership between Armenia and the EU was noted, the statements of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan and the EU High Representative Kaja Kallas were emphasized, including regarding the approval of the action plan for visa liberalization by the European Commission.
At the meeting, Ghazaryan presented the reforms in the Armenian police system, spoke about the changes made in the areas of human rights and the fight against corruption, as well as the introduction of a new standard for the use of force.
The process of visa liberalization, effective tools for managing border and migration flows, as well as disaster risk management mechanisms introduced in Armenia were also discussed.
The EU commended Armenia's commitment to democracy, the rule of law and progress in the field of human rights. The need for continued reforms and additional steps to eradicate all forms of discrimination was emphasized. The parties also noted the importance of the full participation of civil society in decision- making and public administration.
In the context of foreign, security and defense policy, the parties welcomed the recently signed agreement between Armenia and the EU defining Armenia's participation in EU crisis management missions and operations, as well as the holding of the first consultations on security and defense between Armenia and the EU.
