ArmInfo. The current Armenian government realizes that it is highly unlikely that it will be able to cope with two organized opposition centers that actively oppose it and refuse to engage in any negotiations or agreements with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
This opinion was expressed by political scientist and political observer Benjamin Matevosyan on his Telegram channel, discussing the current situation in the country. According to Matevosyan, the arrests, the announcement of the storming of the Mother See of Etchmiadzin, the raider seizure of the Electric Networks of Armenia company, searches and fights in parliament are all the result of the political activities of Russian businessman of Armenian origin, Samvel Karapetyan.
At the same time, the political scientist is confident that even if the Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II is arrested, he will continue to remain Catholicos. "Yes, there may be an unpleasant scene of the storming, but, in fact, this will not change anything. This is not cynicism, but simply a factual statement," Matevosyan believes.
Touching upon the march in support of Samvel Karapetyan, the political scientist noted that threats of dismissal do not stop people from taking to the streets. He expressed his conviction that the temporary raider seizure of "Elnets" will also not affect this activity. "The arrest of bishops and MPs is emotionally unpleasant and illegal, but such an approach will not change the political situation either. The level of support for Pashinyan's actions will not increase. The brawls in the National Assembly involving the MPs from the Civil Contract and the use of bottles also do not affect the situation, aside from the appearance of several video clips in the media," he noted. In conclusion, Matevosyan pointed out that key processes lie ahead, such as the formation of a new political pole and elections. "These are the central events for the medium term. The one with the strongest willpower will win," the political scientist concluded.
