ArmInfo. "We expected all this, they were a little late, and, probably, in all likelihood, they will arrest me, but I don't know for what yet," Chairman of the Board of Directors of CJSC "Electric Networks of Armenia" Narek Karapetyan, nephew of businessman Samvel Karapetyan, told journalists. Narek Karapetyan left the house with a book in his hands. In response to a question from journalists, he said: "I'm taking it with me to read there (meaning in the detention center - ed.). I think there will be a 90% arrest warrant, they searched for so long, but found nothing. When they came to our house, they found 2 hats, a photo frame with children's photos and 4 iPhones, money, that's all. After our protest event, aggression increased, now any small opportunity will be used to create problems against people," said Narek Karapetyan.
Since early morning, law enforcement officers have been conducting investigative actions in the "Electric Networks of Armenia" and in the house of Narek Karapetyan.
Earlier, the Armenian parliament adopted a package of legislative amendments aimed at nationalizing the "ESA" company owned by the "Tashir" Group of Companies.
Philanthropist and president of the "Tashir" Group of Companies Samvel Karapetyan was detained on the night of June 18 in Yerevan by law enforcement agencies of Armenia after he expressed support for the Armenian Apostolic Church. In response, this was followed by open threats from the Prime Minister. On the night of June 19, the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction arrested Samvel Karapetyan for two months. He is being held in the "Yerevan-Kentron" penitentiary (the well-known "KGB basement" in the building of the National Security Service of Armenia). He is charged with public calls to seize power in the country. Karapetyan does not admit guilt.
