ArmInfo. Law enforcement officers of Armenia have seized more than 7 kg of marijuana smuggled into the republic. This was reported by the press service of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the source, based on operational information received, law enforcement officers in the village of Zovuni in Kotayk region detained two men - a 29-year-old resident of Yerevan and a 39-year-old foreigner, who were taken to the Nairi municipal police department along with the car driven by the foreigner. More than three kilograms of marijuana were found in the car.
Then, two more people were detained near a gas station in the village of Jrvezh in Kotayk region - a 36- year-old man from Yerevan and a 35-year-old man from Ashtarak. They were taken to the Kotayk police department in the car driven by the latter. 680 grams of marijuana were found in the car.
During the implementation of operational activities on the Gevorg Chaush highway section of the Proshyan-Yerevan highway, two foreigners aged 28 and 31 were detained. 540 grams of marijuana were found on the passenger.
The events continued to develop on Kamo Street in Dilijan, where a 34-year-old man from Vanadzor and his 33-year-old wife were detained. Both were taken to the Dilijan police department along with the car. More than two kilograms of marijuana were found in the car.
All detainees have been arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
