Sargis Khandanyan elected Chair of General Committee on Democracy,  Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions

ArmInfo.  During the Summer Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, the Head of the Armenian delegation to OSCE PA Sargis Khandanyan was elected Chair of the General Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian  Questions.

Assuming the position of the Chair of the Committee, Sargis  Khandanyan noted: "In these difficult times, the mission our  Committee is more urgent than ever. The OSCE region faces difficult  and multifaceted challenges: ongoing conflicts, human rights  violations, democratic regression. In these conditions, the OSCE PA  should continue to serve as a platform for dialogue and action, based  on multilateralism and effective parliamentary diplomacy."

The General Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian  Questions is one of the three main committees of the OSCE PA. The  Summer Session of the Assembly is taking place from June 29 to July 3  in the city of Porto, Portugal.
