AGBU urges Armenian authorities and  Church to exercise restraint and  unity

ArmInfo.The recent events in Armenia are shocking not only to citizens of Armenia, but also to  Armenians around the world, we call on all parties to exercise restraint, as noted in a statement from the Central Council of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) regarding the recent events in Armenia.

"The Armenian nation is currently facing in a deep crisis. Recent  events in Armenia are shocking not only to citizens of Armenia, but  also to Armenians around the world. As in the past, at critical  moments in the history of our people, the AGBU once again calls for  restraint and national unity," as stated in a message received by  ArmInfo. The organization is confident that in the course of the  events that are taking place, it is important to reaffirm the need to  respect both the Constitution and the democratic processes in the  Republic, as well as the laws and regulations of the Armenian  National Church, which has followers all over the world. At the same  time, the organization believes that constructive criticism or  disagreement with any institution or its leadership is reasonable,  unconstitutional interference and destructive rhetoric are  unacceptable. 

"We call on all parties to exercise restraint, reject division and  reaffirm their commitment to unite around mutual respect and national  interests. We must move forward together, because unity is strength,  and only by uniting can we overcome the challenges we face," the AGBU  concluded.
