ArmInfo. The Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem has issued a statement in support of Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II.
" With deep sorrow and concern, we have learned of the actions taken by officers of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, who forcibly entered the sacred grounds of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and created an alarming situation. Such actions are unprecedented and deeply disturbing. The Mother See is not only a religious center, but the spiritual homeland of the Armenian people - a sanctuary and symbol of our divine heritage, as Saint Narekatsi described, "a reflection of God's infinite being."
In the name of the Brotherhood of Sts. James of Jerusalem, we firmly condemn these shameful and dishonorable developments. We call for immediate restraint from all sides, to prevent further division, pain, and damage to our Church and Nation. We express our full support to His Holiness the Catholicos of All Armenians, and pray that the Almighty grants him strength and long days," the statement reads.
