Armenia`s National Security Service  recalls security considerations

ArmInfo.Today, on June 27, 2025, during the attempted implementation of the decision to detain Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan (Gevorg Artashes Ajapahyan) within the premises of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, a gathering of citizens was observed, as noted in a message from the National Security Service of Armenia.

Taking into account security considerations and in order to prevent a  potential and deliberate escalation of the situation, the National  Security Service and the Police of the Republic of Armenia made the  decision to withdraw from the territory of the Mother See. The  National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia urges all  citizens to refrain from escalating the situation and not to obstruct  the lawful actions of law enforcement agencies.

Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan (Gevorg Artashes Ajapahyan) is urged not  to evade law enforcement authorities and to present himself to the  National Security Service's operational team awaiting him. The NSS  continues to carry out its functions as defined by law, ensuring the  maintenance of public order and security. Any obstruction to the  lawful actions of law enforcement agencies will be subject to legal  assessment.
