"I am not threat to Armenia" - clergyman

According to him, he does not intend to hide behind the backs of  other clergy and will not endanger them.  Catholicos of All Armenians  Garegin II said that a decision on further actions will be made soon.

Earlier, special forces of the National Security Service of Armenia  in masks entered the territory of the Mother See of Etchmiadzin. As  lawyer Ara Zohrabyan stated, the investigator of the Investigative  Committee made a decision to detain the head of the Shirak Diocese,  Archbishop Mikael Ajapakhyan, and then he will be taken to arrest.

A scuffle between police officers and priests occurred in the  courtyard of the residence of the Mother See, who did not allow the  security forces to break into the residence of the Catholicos.

A criminal case was opened on June 17 of this year, based on a signal  received by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The reason for the  criminal case was an interview given by the bishop in February 2024  about allegedly public calls for the seizure of power and the violent  overthrow of the constitutional order, he continued.
