ArmInfo. The news outlet News.am has accused the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Alen Simonyan, of slander. On June 17 of this year, the publication filed a civil lawsuit against the head of the Parliament for a post on his Facebook page (May 17, 2025), where he referred to several media representatives (News.am, Yerevan Today, Politic.am and Channel 5) as being controlled by the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan.
The lawsuit, as the plaintiff's lawyer Aramazd Kiviryan told ArmInfo, states that News.am demands that Alen Simonyan publicly retract the statements within a week after the court decision comes into force, in an accessible way - on his social media page, those formulations that have harmed the plaintiff's business reputation.
