Investigative Committee: 14 people arrested in case of coup attempt

ArmInfo. Fourteen people have been arrested in relation to a  coup attempt in Armenia, as reported by the RA Investigative Committee's press service.  As noted in the  statement,  a large number of objects and documents, as well as other  undeniable facts of evidentiary value intended for preparations for  terrorism and the usurpation of power were found during the searches.

 As part of the criminal proceedings initiated on the facts of  terrorism and preparation for the seizure of power by the leaders and  participants of the Sacred Struggle movement, investigators, together  with employees of the National Security Service and the Police,  have  conducted more than 9 dozen searches at various addresses. As a  result, objects and documents related to the aforementioned crimes  were discovered, as well as other indisputable factual data of  evidentiary value, including firearms, ammunition, action plans,  lists of recruited persons, metal objects, firecrackers, smoke bombs,  military equipment, radio communications equipment, and drones. A  list of persons being appointed to relevant positions in the  executive authorities after the forcible usurpation of power, and  documents on the detailed planning of illegal actions to be carried  out by the criminal group, their sequence, chronology were also  discovered.  Based on the investigator's petition, the supervising  prosecutor has made decisions to initiate public criminal prosecution  against 16 persons, which were granted. At the moment, 14 persons  have been detained based on the investigator's decisions.
