ArmInfo. It is impossible to take Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) CJSC without violating the Constitution and legislation of the Republic of Armenia, as well as the international obligations assumed by Armenia. This is how Edmon Marukyan, former Ambassador-at- Large of Armenia and Chairman of the Bright Armenia Party, commented on today's statement by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that the ENA nationalization plan is ready and will soon enter the practical stage.
Marukyan also pointed out that Pashinyan emphasized that "the processes will take place in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Armenia." "And I assure you that it is impossible to take the ENA without violating the Constitution and legislation of the Republic of Armenia, as well as the international obligations assumed by Armenia," the politician noted.
Additionally, Marukyan decided to recall how this whole process began. "First, Samvel Karapetyan was threatened that he would not protect Armenian shrines, the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, otherwise we would seize the ENA. He responded by saying: "I don't care about them and their ENA," considering that they cannot intimidate him and force him to renounce the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, our shrines and our identity with the ENA.
The Prime Minister and other government representatives manipulate this statement, by claiming that he doesn't care about an institution of strategic importance, so we must nationalize it. In other words, we will violate the fundamental right to private property and take away people's property," Pashinyan's former ally noted. Marukyan added that Pashinyan does not even have a competent lawyer to explain to him that seizing the ESA would have exclusively negative consequences for the economy, investment environment and energy security of Armenia. "And then, let's say, they took it away, isn't it clear that we will return this property to its rightful owner, and the invaders will be held accountable," Marukyan asked.
