Guzh Manukyan was born on May 6, 1937 in Leninakan (now Gyumri) to the family of Soviet playwright Alexander Armenovich Araksmanyan and actress Valentina Melkonovna Araksmanyan. In 1958, he graduated from the acting department of the Yerevan Art and Theater Institute. From 1958-1959. In 1959- 1967 he served at the Kapan Drama Theater, from 1959 to 1967 - at the Yerevan Theater of Young Spectators, and since 1967 - leading actor of the Yerevan Drama Theater named after G. Ghaplanyan. Manukyan's awards include the title of People's Artist of the Armenian SSR (1980), the State Prize of the Armenian SSR for theatrical works (1981), the Medal "Movses Khorenatsi" (1998), the Honorary Badge of the National Assembly of Armenia (2012), the Gold Medal of the Ministry of Culture (2007), the theater prize "Artvazd" (2012).
