ArmInfo.The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia Narek Mkrtchyan and the Minister of Disability of Italy Alessandra Locatelli signed a memorandum of cooperation in Yerevan aimed at exchanging experiences and implementing joint initiatives in the field of protecting the rights of persons with disabilities and social integration.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Social Labor of Armenia, the memorandum was signed taking into account the importance of improving the development of policies in the field of social protection, as well as international cooperation and exchange of experience. The parties reaffirmed their commitment to comply with the principles of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The main areas of cooperation include: protecting the rights of persons with disabilities and the services provided; legislative reforms; inclusion policy in the labor market; promoting independent living and improving social guarantee mechanisms, etc.
It is noted that cooperation will be carried out through: developing joint programs and initiatives, experience exchange programs, as well as organizing meetings, conferences, research and industry discussions.
The parties described the signing of the document as an important step for both countries towards social integration and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities.
