In the afternoon, several dozen citizens with opposition views and representing various political forces and groups were arrested and taken to police stations in Yerevan and other regions of the country. "Terror by "law enforcement officers" has begun in Yerevan and several regions of the country, reminiscent of the eve of April 24, 1915," the initiative said in a statement. Members of the Supreme Body of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun were also affected ": searches and arrests were conducted. The party noted that this new phase of political persecution began simultaneously with the visit of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to Turkey. "Regardless of the development of events and the severity of repressions, we state: no repressions can silence us. Such an approach will ultimately lead to an adequate response," the ARF emphasized.
According to the press service from the "Sacred Struggle" movement, supporters of the movement were also unlawfully arrested.
Meanwhile, the police stated that the detentions are related to the receipt of operational information about possible preparations for actions aimed at violating public order. "The police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are conducting enhanced service, during which preventive and explanatory measures are being carried out. We urge the public to adhere to public order. Any illegal activities will be met with harsh resistance," Narek Sargsyan, press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, wrote.
