ArmInfo. In Armenia, the demand for ID cards has recently increased sharply due to the process of declaring citizens' income.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Migration and Citizenship Service of the department has undertaken to provide the process of issuing identity cards with new digital solutions. For this purpose, two devices for printing identity cards were launched, as a result of which the printing quality has improved, and the system has been reorganized.
As of June 17, 2025, the service received 131,104 applications for ID cards, of which 120,066 identity cards have been printed, and 11,038 identification cards are in the printing stage. There are 52,160 citizens waiting in line, of which 40,645 - in Yerevan.
In 2024, 161,000 people received identity cards. This is two and a half times more than the 2023 figure. Thus, as of June 2025, the figure is almost approaching the service volumes of last year.
"We have initiated a number of solutions that will allow us to further expand our capabilities for printing identification cards and serve a larger volume of our citizens. Today, we can process about 1,000 applications per day, but this number will already be doubled, as we have purchased a laser system for two new printing devices, which will allow us to print ID cards faster and increase productivity," said Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan.
In order to improve the quality of services provided to citizens, including compliance with the deadlines established by law, the Migration and Citizenship Service is currently working non-stop. It can be noted that the problem of delays in issuing cards due to queues is a thing of the past.
