Concepts of Church and Catholicos ashould be differentiated 

ArmInfo. It is necessary to separate the concepts of the church and Ktrich Nersisyan (Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II - ed.). This was stated by the Chairman  of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Alen Simonyan on  June 19 from the rostrum of the National Assembly of the Republic of  Armenia.

According to him, not a single citizen in the Republic of Armenia has  had or has problems with faith. This is, first of all, about the  recovery of the Armenian Apostolic Church, which has been discussed  for years. "It would be unfair to equate faith with Ktrich Nersisyan.  The Church has become a hostage today. Just as yesterday, people were  brought to rallies by order of Ktrich Nersisyan, today some  politicians present the situation as a fight between the authorities  and the AAC. No one is fighting the Church, it belongs to every  citizen, and there is no doubt about it. Those who discredit the  Church must leave, and I have no doubt that they will leave," the  speaker noted.

He added that the opposition in the country's parliament often raises  the issue of national values, which it includes the AAC among. But,  as Alen Simonyan noted, it is necessary to understand who understands  what under the concept of national. According to the RA authorities,  this concept must be understood as a free and independent real  Armenia. "This is the same Armenia with which we became independent  and in which we live today. Meanwhile, for the opposition, the  concept of nationality is bribery, corruption and a feudal system of  government with its feudal system of values," the head of parliament  noted.

He pointed out the strangeness of the situation, in which the current  leadership of the AAC is supported by Catholics in the majority,  which for some reason no one in Armenia talks about. He also recalled  the statements of Russian officials in defense of the AAC and against  the current authorities of the Republic of Armenia. "Imagine what  would have happened to them if they had named the Russian Federation  instead of the Republic of Armenia, how many seconds they would have  lasted, but in Armenia one can talk," the NA Chairman said. 

He also recalled the period of his army service, when Robert  Kocharyan was the President of the Republic of Armenia, Serzh  Sargsyan was the Minis ter of Defense, and the current leader of the  opposition faction "Armenia" Seyran Ohanyan was the commander of the  first army corps, one scoundrel stood at the army canteen and just  for fun beat 18-year-old boys with a rubber truncheon. The same  scoundrel, the head of the parliament noted, organized a night hunt  for soldiers who were trying to go to the city of Oktemberyan in  search of food. 

"This same scoundrel in a jeep would catch the boys and beat them up  and bring them back to the barracks," Alen Simonyan shared his  memories. He also attacked the opposition. "There are so many people  here whose place is in prisons, where there probably would be no  place. We would put you all in prisons one by one for deceiving  people, spreading lies and working for others," Alen Simonyan said,  addressing the opposition. He also advised them to return deputies  Levon Kocharyan and Ishkhan Saghatelyan to the meeting hall.
