ArmInfo. The Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) sent an official letter to the Prime Minister of Armenia in connection with the search and seizure at the Malkhasyants law firm, expressing concern over reports of violations of the professional rights of lawyers in Armenia.
In particular, the Council of Bar Associations and Law Societies of Europe calls on the Armenian authorities to ensure the immediate cessation of all actions violating attorney-client privilege, the immediate return of all seized materials, and the safe and independent exercise of the professional activities of lawyers by taking all necessary measures.
The CCBE also recalls that all lawyers must be able to carry out their professional duties without fear of reprisal, obstruction, threats or harassment, and to respect the rule of law.
O n June 12 of this year, the Chamber of Advocates of Armenia appealed to international partners, including the Council of European Bar Associations and Law Societies, drawing their attention to the case of a search conducted several days ago at the Malkhasyants law firm.
