ArmInfo. In 2019, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan invited international businesses to invest in Armenia, and now he is calling for the nationalization of the "Electric Networks of Armenia", Russian Foreign Ministry official representative Maria Zakharova said in an interview with RIA Novosti at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
"We invite international businesses to invest in Armenia. We even have a motto for potential investors: "We invite them to Armenia to become richer and make Armenia richer," Maria Zakharova recalled Pashinyan's statements made in 2019 at the SPIEF. Now, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry added, Pashinyan is making statements that Karapetyan's investments should be nationalized.
Zakharova also referenced statements made by RA Prime Minister in 2018. "I would like to quote Nikol Pashinyan during a rally in Yerevan 2018. He said the following and I quote it directly: "The authorities should unconditionally and unequivocally recognize the victory of our revolution and not demonstrate any desire to cling to power. We demand the unanimous and unconditional capitulation of the Republican Party of Armenia." She recalled that Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan is facing persecution in Armenia for calling for a change of government. "We are now hearing reports that in Yerevan, according to his lawyer, the Russian businessman is being accused of calling for a change of government. I am simply quoting the Armenian head of state," Zakharova emphasized.
