ArmInfo. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan <believes> he has evidence of celibacy violation by several clergy, particularly Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II. <I think I have evidence. If I say, that means I have evidence>, he said on June 18 during a briefing with journalists in parliament.
According to Pashinyan, the clergy of the Armenian Apostolic Church do not dispute the fact that celibacy vows have been broken. His stance is grounded in the Code of Laws of the AAC, which were officially registered with the RA Ministry of Justice by the church itself, he clarified.
When asked if the campaign against the AAC is intended to sow discord and incite a civil war, Pashinyan noted that he finds such speculation pointless. He recalled that in 2018, "they carried out a revolution in the RA without any clashes." "Now we are putting forward an exclusively spiritual task, which will be pursued only in a spiritual and Christian manner, through steps and actions guided by Christian love. The AAC flock itself will reject them," he said.
