ArmInfo. Yesterday's events once again demonstrated the complete failure of the current government in Armenia. This is stated in the statement of the President of the Tashir Group of Companies Samvel Karapetyan.
According to him, sincere hatred towards the Armenian Apostolic Church, indifference to national values, inadmissibility of healthy criticism, a morbid desire to brutally suppress any dissent, has become, unfortunately, an incomplete list of the "qualities" of this government. "But Armenia has always and above all been famous for its principled and fearless sons, and a government has not yet been born that could break them. Yesterday, many rose up against injustice, and I am sincerely grateful to them. My homeland and compatriots have always been the center of my attention, the center of my family's attention. It was, is and will always be so. I will never give up my principles and values, because they are based on Armenia itself, boundless respect and love for my homeland, our traditions, our history, our Church. I am sure that with God's help we will unite and be able to find a way out of the difficult situation in which our country finds itself," the businessman and philanthropist said in a statement.
The day before, police officers detained Samvel Karapetyan immediately after he criticized the authorities' position towards the AAC.
Touching upon the issue that the detention of the head of the Tashir Group of Companies Samvel Karapetyan occurred immediately after the businessman spoke out in defense of the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Prime Minister noted that this statement was not about the Church, but about the Republic of Armenia. "Some people are trying to form an opinion that some people can come to the country and, as they themselves say, do something with their own methods. Meanwhile, the Republic of Armenia has specific levers to prevent such a development of events. Armenia is a democratic state in which everyone has the right to express their opinion, hold rallies, participate in public and political life, but no one has the right to threaten the Republic of Armenia, and in this case I will resort to the harshest and most brutal means to prevent this," the Prime Minister said.
He noted that in Armenia many are trying to identify democracy with the weakness of the government, but this is not the case. The government will always respond appropriately.
The day before, immediately after Samvel Karapetyan's statement of support for the Armenian Apostolic Church, he was detained by the country's law enforcement agencies. The reason for this step was the businessman's words that "if politicians fail to solve the AAC problem, then we will do it our own way."
