ArmInfo. The searches in the house of Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan are a kind of "black mark" on him from Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Roza Chemeris (New People) told RIA Novosti.
"The searches in the house of the famous businessman and philanthropist are a kind of "black mark" on him from Pashinyan, who is panicky afraid of political competition. Who, however, has forgotten how he himself once replaced his predecessor, Serzh Sargsyan, with his endless promises of a new life for Armenia. He also forgot that people very quickly get tired of empty words and promises from the authorities. Especially the authorities that deceived them," she said.
According to the MP, Pashinyan never ceases to surprise and disappoint: having come to power with slogans of peace and democracy, he is surprisingly quickly turning into a political tyrant and usurper of power, intolerant of dissent and independent opinions.
She also noted that Karapetyan's support for the Armenian Apostolic Church against the backdrop of its public conflict with Pashinyan is only a formal pretext for the searches carried out today in the house of a major businessman in Yerevan. "Unlike Pashinyan, Karapetyan has long and deservedly had serious support from people in Armenia - from different walks of life. He builds schools and kindergartens in the country, allocates significant funds for the creation of new infrastructure in Armenia. He improves people's lives with deeds, not words, like Pashinyan. Which, of course, seriously irritates the ambitious prime minister," Chemeris added.
Late at night, the police detained Samvel Karapetyan. The reason for this was his words in support of the Armenian Apostolic Church, which is being attacked by the authorities. At the moment, it is not known what Karapetyan is accused of.
