ArmInfo. RA Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan, as part of the delegation of the Council of Europe Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, paid a working visit to Scotland.
As reported by the RA Ombudsman's Office, the purpose of the delegation's visit was to study the treatment of persons deprived of their liberty and the conditions of detention in Scottish prisons, as well as in closed institutions for the care of minors. In this context, the CoE delegation assessed the progress recorded since the visits in 2018 and 2019.
The delegation members also visited a number of police stations to assess the treatment of detainees, their conditions of detention and the guarantees of their rights.
As part of the working visit, Anahit Manasyan took part in a number of high-level meetings.
At the end of the visit, the delegation presented its initial observations and main considerations to the Scottish authorities.
