ArmInfo. Armen Grigoryan, the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, acknowledged the presence of factors that may raise doubts about the successes achieved in the negotiations with Azerbaijan regarding the signing of a peace treaty. He stated this on June 13 during the APRI Armenia forum.
According to Grigoryan, despite the lack of active actions on the part of Azerbaijan, it is important to pay attention to the agenda that the Armenian side is promoting. He noted that in Armenia there is often a focus on the actions of other countries, and he suggested that it is important to first understand their own goals and aspirations.
"Of course, it is clear that both sides need to participation to achieve a result, but let us first determine our objectives. It is necessary to define our agenda and concentrate all our efforts on it. It is obvious that our ultimate goal is peace and the signing of a peace treaty. To achieve this, we must make every effort and mobilize all available resources. While we have not fully implemented this agenda, we have managed to achieve stability in several issues. I understand that there may be examples that challenge my statement, but there are also many facts confirming the presence of a certain stability between Armenia and Azerbaijan," the Security Council Secretary said.
Grigoryan emphasized that Armenia continues its efforts to ensure stability in the region and advance the peace agenda, despite many factors occurring in the region beyond the country's control. However, he did acknowledge that there are difficulties in this process. "We are trying to do everything possible to prioritize stability in these discussions," Grigoryan assured. He emphasized that Armenia is actively implementing reforms in the Armed Forces and acquiring modern weapons to protect the country's territorial integrity, sovereignty and democratic values. "We take into account the ongoing processes in the region and build up our potential accordingly," Grigoryan concluded.
