ArmInfo. Levon Ter-Petrosyan, the first president of Armenia and leader of the Armenian National Congress party, responded to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attacks on the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC), as reported by the party's press service.
He recalled that in 1903, at the start of the 20th century, Russian Emperor Nicholas II issued a decree to confiscate the assets of the Armenian Church and shut down Armenian schools. "This decision sparked a wave of protest and indignation in all strata of the Armenian people, inadvertently fueling the rise of Armenian nationalism. Eventually, the emperor was forced to revoke the law in 1905. If the Armenian people could stand up to the powerful emperor of Russia, then how could they fail to handle someone like Nikol Pashinyan, a hater of the nation and blasphemer?" the first president said.
