ArmInfo. 54 votes from National Assembly deputies, not 36, are required to initiate a full impeachment process of the Prime Minister of Armenia. The third President of the Republic of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, told journalists on June 12.
"We don't need 36 votes, we need 54 votes, and then the issue will be brought to parliament," Serzh Sargsyan noted. He refrained from elaborating further, mentioning that the leader of the opposition faction "I Have Honor" Hayk Mamjanyan had already covered all aspects of the matter.
Nevertheless, the third President of the Republic of Armenia believes that the impeachment process is not doomed. "The process begins when a member of the National Assembly nominates a prime minister candidate," Sargsyan said. When asked about the need for 36 signatures, which are currently lacking, and how the process can begin in such a scenario, the former president responded: "We said that we would raise the issue for discussion once we have 54 signatures, 36 are irrelevant."
