ArmInfo. Trying to slander and discredit the highest clergy of the Armenian Apostolic Church and its leader, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, the Armenian authorities are pursuing the goal of undermining the authority of the Church, in order to overshadow their own criminal failures and ongoing chaos. David Ananyan, former Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia, wrote on his Facebook page.
"As a faithful follower of my Church, I believe in its councils, clergy, canonical order and traditions passed down through the millennia, as well as the decisions it has made. I reject your politically motivated insinuations and "accusations". The Armenian Apostolic Church is more than just an institution. Our Church is the pillar of our faith, standing steadfast in silence. It is part of our spiritual heritage, handed down from generation to generation by our ancestors, true spiritual leaders, not politicians. We are a people deeply rooted in this land. Our faith and our Church are not mere memories of the past, they are our present and our future. The Church has existed as long as we have. And it will continue to exist as long as we stand on our land, faithful to our faith and our shrines. No one can make us strangers to our identity," the former head of the State Revenue Committee emphasized.
