ArmInfo. The Cassation Court has decided to reject the appeal of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia in the case of the director of the Izmirlyan Medical Center, former deputy of the Hayastan faction of the National Assembly Armen Charchyan. This was reported by Charchyan's lawyer Erik Aleksanyan on a social network.
, the lawyer wrote.
On February 5, 2024, the Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan, chaired by Judge Vahe Misakyan, found Armen Charchyan guilty of the incriminated act and sentenced him to four years in prison. However, given the length of Charchyan's detention, the final sentence was imposed: imprisonment for 3 years, 7 months and 13 days. At the same time, the court decided not to apply a suspended sentence to Charchyan, setting a probationary period of 3 years.
Meanwhile, back in October 2023, the prosecutor in the case demanded that he be sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment. In this regard, the prosecutor's office applied to the Court of Appeal with a similar motion, but the court rejected it, while partially satisfying the defense's motion to reduce the probationary period.

The famous doctor Armen Charchyan was accused of bribing voters and forcing employees of the Izmirlyan Medical Center to participate in the voting in the snap elections to the National Assembly on June 20, 2021. A month after being released on bail, he was arrested for the second time, after which in December 2021 he was released on bail. In the fall of 2024, Charchyan resigned from his mandate and again headed the medical center.
