ArmInfo. Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II called on the pilgrims who arrived from the Armenian Diocese of Australia and New Zealand to meet with the people of Artsakh to learn about the challenges they face and to provide support.
As reported by the press service of the Mother See of Etchmiadzin, the pilgrims arrived accompanied by the spiritual pastor of the Surb Astvatsatsin Church in Melbourne, Priest Khacher Harutyunyan. He noted that before traveling to Armenia, the Australian group visited Western Armenia and arrived in Mother See of Etchmiadzin to receive the blessing of the Catholicos of All Armenians.
Garegin II emphasized that the organization of such pilgrimages from Armenian dioceses scattered around the world in these difficult times for the Motherland inspires compatriots living in their native land.
On September 19, 2023, Azerbaijan, under the pretext of an "anti-terrorist operation", committed another act of aggression against Artsakh. This was preceded by a nearly 10-month blockade of the unrecognized republic. Since the enemy aggression that began in the fall of 2020, which in September 2023 ended with the complete ethnic cleansing of Artsakh, over 150 thousand Artsakh residents have lost their homeland and become refugees.
