ArmInfo. The opposition faction With Honor of the National Assembly of Armenia, within the framework of the impeachment process initiated against the head of the Cabinet, nominated David Hambardzumyan, head of the Masis community, as a candidate for the post of Prime Minister.
"Taking into account the statement of the Executive Body of the Republican Party of Armenia, the faction With Honor unanimously decided at the meeting held on June 7, in accordance with the constitutional law "Regulations of the National Assembly", to make a motion to express no confidence in the Prime Minister, nominating David Hambardzumyan, head of the Masis community, member of the Council of the Republican Party of Armenia, as a candidate," the head of the faction Hayk Mamijanyan wrote on a social network.
The day before, the former ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), led by former President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, proposed to the parliamentary faction With Honor to begin the process of passing a vote of no confidence in the country's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
A vote of no confidence in the current Prime Minister can be discussed in the National Assembly only if at least 36 MPs provide the signatures required to begin the process. The two opposition factions ("Armenia" and With Honor) together make up 34 MPs. Another four have independent status. In order to express no confidence in the head of government, at least 54 MPs out of 107 must vote for impeachment.
