RPA elects candidate for Armenia`s premier as part of incument  premier`s impeachment 

ArmInfo. The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), led by the third President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, will nominate Deputy Chairman of the party Armen Ashotyan as a candidate for the post of Prime Minister within the framework of the impeachment process of Nikol Pashinyan, the  newspaper writes.

The previous evening, the Executive Body of the RPA issued a  statement, which said that the Republican Party of Armenia reaffirms  its unconditional commitment to changing the current authoritarian  regime of the Republic of Armenia, which poses existential threats to  the sovereignty, territorial integrity and future of Armenia, and  takes into account public expectations for the speedy release of the  anti-national usurpers of power. It was noted that the political  priority of the RPA is not to retain power, but to change it, and  that in order to achieve this goal, the party has not avoided and  will not avoid political responsibility. The RPA emphasized the  extreme danger to the statehood of the Republic of Armenia of  delaying practical steps at this stage of the struggle.

The RPA hopes that other political forces and individuals who have  the opportunity to continue the vote of no confidence without  interruption and successfully complete it will make their full  contribution to this extremely important matter.

writes that in the coming days the party will announce the  candidacy of the RPA Deputy Chairman Armen Ashotyan. It is noted that  before that, the name of the former head of the National Security  Service of Armenia Artur Vanetsyan (who formed the   bloc with the RPA) was mentioned, but later they settled on the name  of Ashotyan.

Recall that on April 28, members of the   movement, founded by the founder of the movement Narek Malyan,  former Armenian Ambassador to Poland Edgar Ghazaryan and a group of  oppositionists, sent individual letters to members of the Armenian  parliament on initiating the process of declaring a vote of no  confidence in the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol  Pashinyan within 10 days. Both opposition factions - Hayastan (28  MPs) and I Have the Honor (6 MPs) - have expressed their support for  the initiative. Meanwhile, a vote of no confidence in the current  Prime Minister can only be discussed in the National Assembly if at  least 36 MPs provide the signatures required to begin the process. A  simple majority of MPs is required for the process to be successful.

On May 16, the leader of the Bright Armenia party, former  Ambassador-at-Large Edmon Marukyan announced that he had accepted the  offer of the United National Constitutional Party (represented by MPs  Hovik Agazaryan and Hakob Aslanyan) to become a candidate for the  post of Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia within the  framework of the impeachment initiative of Nikol Pashinyan. However,  the parliamentary opposition, represented by I Have the Honor, did  not support the initiative, in particular, stating that they "oppose  the process of replacing Nikol Pashinyan with Nikol Pashinyan 2".
