ArmInfo. The memory of the Great Victory will be passed from generation to generation. Vice-Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Hakob Arshakyan made this statement at the 39th session of the Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on the theme <80th Anniversary of the Great Victory: Unity in Protecting Historical Memory for Future Generations>.
He noted that the Great Victory stands as a valuable model of courage and patriotism for future generations, while also serving as a reminder of the devastating impact of wars on humanity. Arshakyan expressed contentment with the ongoing and dynamic nature of the Interparliamentary Commission's work, which focuses on strengthening Armenian-Russian relations through regular meetings that help address issues of mutual interest promptly.
Yuri Vorobyov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation noted that the Great Victory came at a high cost for the Soviet people. He also emphasized that they will always remember the heroic deeds of the fraternal Armenian people.
Vorobyov reported that the Russian side has appealed to parliamentarians of foreign countries and peoples worldwide urging that those who insult the memory of the fighters against fascism and the victorious soldiers be brought to justice. "Only through joint efforts can we protect the truth about that war, fight against the rise of neo-Nazism, and prevent the recurrence of bloody crimes against humanity," Vorobyov said. He highlighted the unity between Armenia and Russia, not just in common victory and history, but also in active cooperation across various areas. Currently, bilateral relations are developing dynamically in all areas, with a significant focus on interregional cooperation. The interparliamentary commission, according to the deputy chairman, plays a key role in fostering direct ties between regions in Armenia and Russia.
