Today's meeting of the inter-parliamentary commission on cooperation between the parliaments of Armenia and Russia is another important step towards strengthening the dialogue between the legislative bodies of the two countries. This was stated by the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Alen Simonyan during the meeting of the commission that opened on June 6 in Yerevan.
In his speech, the speaker emphasized that the inter-parliamentary commission has proven itself as an effective platform for open and productive dialogue and exchange of opinions. The speaker expressed hope for an effective exchange of opinions, expressing confidence that this format will contribute to the deepening of traditional friendship and cooperation between the two states. He noted that Armenia and Russia, the peoples of the two countries are united by centuries-old friendship.
Recalling the theme of the forum, which is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, Simonyan called for every possible resistance to attempts to distort and falsify the history of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The speaker called this Victory one of the unifying values in relations between the two countries. "This is one of the glorious pages of common history, where the best qualities of the peoples of the Soviet Union were revealed. The peoples showed heroism and selflessness in order to achieve victory," he noted, adding that today the common duty is to remember the Great Victory, which must be passed on to generations, resist attempts at distortion and preserve the historical truth," the head of the Armenian parliament said.
