ArmInfo. Zhanna Andreasyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, received a delegation led by Minister of Culture of Georgia Tinatin Rukhadze, who is in Armenia on an official visit.
As reported by the MESCS, the meeting was also attended by Deputy Ministers of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Artur Martirosyan, Alfred Kocharyan, Daniel Danielyan, Deputy Minister of Culture of Georgia Giorgi Mirtskhulav and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Armenia Giorgi Sharvashidze.
The Minister welcomed the delegation and emphasized the friendly and partner relationship between Armenia and Georgia, particularly noting the significance of enhancing cooperation in culture. Zhanna Andreasyan expressed confidence that the Days of Georgian Culture, scheduled to be held in Yerevan on June 5-7, will contribute to the intensification of bilateral cultural dialogue and elevate the partnership to a new level.
The head of the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science and Culture stressed the importance to expanding sectoral cooperation, highlighting the implementation of joint film projects, and the exchange of experience in cinematography and new media. She noted that such projects can contribute to the international promotion of the culture of both nations and the dissemination of national traditions in contemporary formats.
During the meeting, the activities and development of the Petros Adamyan State Armenian Drama Theater in Tbilisi were also discussed. The Minister thanked the Georgian side for supporting the theater's activities, noting that the Ministry also continues to support the theater in organizing performances and implementing other initiatives. In this context, the issue of organizing a joint event in 2025 was discussed. The Minister also proposed considering the potential for cooperation between the theaters of Armenia and Tbilisi through joint performances, mutual visits and exchange programs in the performing arts. She emphasized that presenting classical and modern plays together could greatly contribute to a new understanding and dissemination of the values of national literature among audience from both nations. It was noted that a stable partnership has been established between the Hakob Paronyan State Musical Comedy Theater and the Rustaveli Theater headed by famous Georgian director Robert Sturua. Joint productions and tours are regularly organized. The cooperation of the Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater and the Georgian Opera Theater was also noted, including joint initiatives with the participation of director Nino Ananiashvili.
During the meeting, restoration work at the Vahan Teryan House-Museum in the village of Gandza, Javakhk was also discussed. The parties talked about issues related to organizing the opening ceremony of the museum as part of the celebration of the 140th anniversary of the poet. The Minister also mentioned cooperation in education, particularly, emphasizing the activities of the Center for Georgian Studies established at Yerevan State University in 2024. The center is an important step in the study and promotion of the Georgian language in Armenia. Zhanna Andreasyan emphasized the importance of organizing of youth conferences between Armenia and Georgia, highlighting the significance of developing contacts and dialogue among the youth of both countries, strengthening friendly ties and implementing new joint initiatives. Minister Andreasyan said that an annual three-day youth conference between Armenia and Georgia is scheduled to take place in July 2025 in Aparan, the youth capital of Armenia. According to the Minister, the event will serve as a platform for developing cooperation between young artists, developing dialogue and initiating joint projects.
Georgian Minister of Culture Tinatin Rukhadze expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and proper organization of the Days of Georgian Culture. She also expressing her willingness to enhance cooperation in the field of culture. Tinatin Rukhadze stressed the need for regular exchanges of cultural delegations between creative groups, artists, musicians, filmmakers and architects. The importance of direct cooperation between Armenian and Georgian museums was emphasized as well. Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
