ArmInfo. Issues related to the shelling of border villages in the Syunik region continue to be a serious concern, sparking discussions on both sides. However, there is no guarantee they will not occur in the future, as stated by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan at a briefing with journalists on June 5.
As the head of the MFA explained, the Armenian side is prepared to conduct the necessary investigations, but the actions of the Azerbaijani side have not reached a level that can ensure the prevention of such incidents in the future.
According to the minister, they are actively informing the Azerbaijani side about the ongoing shelling, emphasizing that it is coming from the territory of Azerbaijan. "The Azerbaijani side, in turn, claims during the meetings that it is not they who are shooting, but us. In response, we ask them to provide evidence of their words and propose organizing a joint mechanism for investigating border incidents that would respond to signals and record events on the spot," the head of the MFA explained. Mirzoyan also assured that there is some understanding with Azerbaijan on this issue. "Everything we are discussing pertains to issues on which it is impossible to declare a final agreement. Nevertheless, it cannot be denied that both side are listening to each other; work is being done on the ground by both sides. However, there are no final decisions that satisfy everyone at this point, as we are dealing with very delicate issues," the minister concluded.
