ArmInfo. Chairman of the RA National Assembly Alen Simonyan believes that there are no insults in the posts on social media by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan towards the Armenian Apostolic Church. "Insults were heard from the rostrum of the National Assembly, coming from the lips of an opposition MP. These insults were sometimes of a sexual nature," Simonyan told journalists on June 5. He added that when it comes to faith and the soul, it is necessary to talk about whether this or that phenomenon exists or not, and not about whether it was necessary to talk about it or not.
Simonyan noted that there are many respected clergy in the church, so it is necessary to distinguish the AAC from "some businessmen and violators of church canons." Alen Simonyan expressed confidence that a hybrid war is being waged against the authorities, which will escalate.
When asked by representatives of the mass media to comment on how to perceive the prime minister's obscene expression directed towards of one of the leaders of the AAC, Simonyan noted that each curse has its own explanation. At the same time, the speaker, commenting on the claims that the processes around the AAC may be linked to Azerbaijan, noted that this is a delusion of those gathered around the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan. According to him, it is an "practically proven" that Robert Kocharyan is a corrupt official, therefore "they are attempting to present others as corrupt as well."
