ArmInfo. A representative of Azerbaijan has made an obvious threat to Armenia during the " Third Human Dimension Conference 2025", organized by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) in Vienna on June 2-3.
As clarified to ArmInfo by the Geghard Scientific and Analytical Foundation's press service, the conference, titled "Inclusivity as a Means of Promoting Tolerance and Combating Discrimination", featured sessions on combating intolerance and discrimination in a comprehensive and inclusive manner in the OSCE region. Representatives of Armenian NGOs participating in the event raised issues related to the rights of Armenian refugees, war crimes committed by Azerbaijan, and the destruction and appropriation of Armenian spiritual, cultural, and religious heritage, which need international recognition and addressing.
As noted in the Foundation's statement, the official representative of Azerbaijan to the OSCE, by tradition, periodically tried to interrupt and hinder the speeches of Armenian speakers. "However, thanks to the highly perceptive approaches demonstrated by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, the Azerbaijani side didn't manage to hinder the Armenian delegation from raising the above- mentioned issues internationally," the Foundation's article notes.
However, as explained by the Geghard Foundation, in "response" to the statements about the violations of the Azerbaijani side, Ahmed Shahidov, the President of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (IDHR), made obvious threats to Armenia. He stated that "during the next war, Armenia may completely lose its sovereignty, and the Azerbaijani army will be able to drink Turkish tea in Yerevan and pray in the Blue Mosque." "Shahidov, initially speaking with false politeness, consistent with the rules of the "Turkish diplomacy" genre, noted that the Karabakh conflict is over and that they want to live in peace with Armenia as neighbors. Then, echoing the president and authorities of his own country, the Azerbaijani delegate accused Armenia of revanchism," the article emphasizes. The Geghard Foundation noted that such behavior by the Azerbaijani side testifies to the fact that "democracy" in Azerbaijan has the same appearance and perception as the idea of "Azerbaijani neighborliness." "We call on Ahmad Shahidov to satisfy their desire to drink tea and perform namaz exclusively on the territory of Azerbaijan," the Foundation concluded.
