The report of the Deputy Minister focused on the challenges facing the international development system and ways to address them. In his remarks, Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan touched upon emerging challenges in the international development system, including the rapid growth of new digital technologies and the consequences of the pandemic and climate change. The need for more sustainable and flexible financing mechanisms in the development sector was emphasized.
In the context of health-related challenges, the Deputy Foreign Minister noted that the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences exposed the vulnerabilities of the global health architecture and the interconnectedness of national health systems. The imperative to take steps to enhance the resilience of global health structures was highlighted.
Touching upon the humanitarian challenges, the Deputy Foreign Minister drew attention to the needs of forcibly displaced people from Nagorno-Karabakh and the necessity of addressing them. In this context, he emphasized the importance of establishing effective preventive, emergency response, and follow-up mechanisms within the global humanitarian response framework.
Regarding the challenges on climate change, the Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of addressing the needs of developing countries, pointing out that although they are not the primary contributors to global warming, biodiversity loss, or other environmental disruptions, they are disproportionately affected by the severe consequences of climate change
