On June 3, Sargis Khandanyan, the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, and the Head of the Armenia-Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia Friendship Group, Arsen Torosyan, met with the political directors of the Foreign Ministries of the Nordic- Baltic countries and the ambassadors accredited in Armenia.
As reported by the press service of the National Assembly, welcoming the guests who arrived in Armenia, Sargis Khandanyan highly appreciated the cooperation with the Nordic- Baltic countries. He underscored the necessity to use the existing potential in various fields, and highlighted the visit of the heads of parliaments of those countries to Armenia at the beginning of this year.
At the quests' request , the Committee Chair touched upon the deepening relations between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union.
The representatives of the diplomatic corps spoke about the importance of cooperation with Armenia, welcomed the European aspirations of the Republic of Armenia and the expansion of the existing cooperation.
The deputes of the National Assembly presented the results of the ongoing negotiations on signing the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace treaty, noting that the Armenian side is ready to sign it.
The representatives of the Nordic-Baltic countries noted that they are interested in the developments happening in the region, in particular, in Armenia, and emphasize the establishment of long lasting peace in the South Caucasus. The guests expressed their willingness to support democratic reforms in Armenia.
