Yerevan Municipality clarifies frequent arrests within municipality  by pointing out the lack of similar investigations in other state  structures

ArmInfo.  Hayk Kostanyan, press  secretary of the Yerevan Municipality, claims that the level of corruption within the capital's municipality does not differ from that in other state bodies. He made this statement on June 3 during a press conference in Yerevan.

He pointed out that the Yerevan Municipality has a firm stance: any  instance of corruption must be thoroughly investigated, regardless of  the official involved. However, he expressed some concerns regarding  the investigations into alleged misconduct by the employees of the  Municipality.  Kostanyan noted that the recent arrests have raised  questions about their causes.

"We are specifically referring to the former head of the Department  of Urban Development and Land Control. While we agree with some  decisions,  we believe that the arrests of certain employees, in the  cases I mentioned, are questionable," Kostanyan noted.
