ArmInfo. For what purpose and why are the ruling forces in Armenia attacking the Armenian Apostolic Church? What tasks are they solving? Political scientist Karen Igityan asks these questions from his Facebook account.
According to him, the person occupying the chair of the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia is distracting public attention from the issue concerning the attempt to settle Armenia by "Ramilsafarovs" under the military-political protection of Azerbaijan and Turkey, which is destructive for the Armenian state. In order to implement this issue, steps are being taken to destroy one of the few surviving national institutions - the Armenian Apollinary Church. "It is noteworthy that the attack began immediately after the speech of Pashazade (the religious leader of Azerbaijan), which was also directed against Armenia and the AAC. By the way, on the same day, Pashazade announced the creation of the "Western Azerbaijan Qaziate", that is, Armenia. Thus, a place is being cleared - remove the AAC, then remove the Armenians themselves, for the benefit of the "Western Azerbaijan Qaziate". It is noteworthy that the same style is visible here: Pashinyan wants to transfer the Turkish model of control over the Armenian Church and the Patriarchate of Constantinople to Armenia. There and exactly there "the state has a decisive voice" in the choice of the patriarch. Thus, Pashinyan returned to the agenda. For a politician with a sharply reduced rating, this is important," the political scientist emphasized.
In his opinion, the issue is not the prime minister's childhood, his moral qualities, etc. "These are all important aspects that answer the question "why", but it is important for us to understand "for what". The symbols of Armenia and Armenians, which are hated by the forces ruling in Turkey and Azerbaijan, and now in Armenia, have either already been destroyed or are subjected to various other attacks: Artsakh, the army, the Armenian Apostolic Church, Armenian history, Ararat, the coat of arms, the anthem, government and military figures associated with the victory. Almost all of them were attacked by the ruling party in the country. This is not an accident or a coincidence, this is not illiteracy, this is a deliberate policy," Karen Igityan believes.
It all started with a government meeting on May 29, at which RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called Armenian churches a "closet", instructing the head of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports to deal with the situation, taking into account that churches are state property. This statement did not please the clergy, who issued a corresponding refutation, which caused another outburst of anger from the head of the Armenian state, who launched offensive statements against the AAC from his Facebook page.
