Artificial Heart project to be implemented in Armenia

ArmInfo. Yerevan Deputy Mayor Sargis Madatyan, City Hall Health Department Head David Karapetyan and Nork-Marash Medical Center Director Mikael Adamyan have  met with representatives Abbott health care company. As reported by the press service of the municipality, the  meeting focused on the implementation of the Artificial Heart project designed for treating heart failure in Armenia. 

"During the meeting, issues related to process mapping, pre- and  post-surgical  phases, possible areas for exchanging experience with  other countries were discussed. A monitoring pertaining to the number  of patients and the general situation in Armenia will be conducted to  launch the project. A specialized team will be formed to implement  the project and select patients. The project is expected to save the  lives of some 90 patients. The project is the only  live- saving  program  given the lack of heart transplantation in the Republic of  Armenia," the statement reads.
