ArmInfo. Attacks on the Armenian Apostolic Church have their own history. This was written on his Facebook page by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the opposition faction "I have the honor", commenting on the increasingly frequent critical statements of the Armenian authorities against the Armenian clergy in recent days.
The deputy drew attention to the fact that attacks on the AAC in the country are taking place in parallel with statements by the Azerbaijani side. In particular, first the spiritual leader of the Azerbaijanis announced the creation of a spiritual council in the so-called "Western Azerbaijan", then launched a massive attack on the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church. "The reason is that the Mother See of Etchmiadzin actively counteracts the aggressive behavior of Azerbaijan, not only in encroachments and destruction of the Armenian spiritual heritage on the territory of Artsakh, but in a certain sense is forced to take on the function of the state: to protect the collective rights of the Armenian people, speaks out sharply about the territorial claims of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Armenia and says that the page of Artsakh is not closed," the parliamentarian noted.
He added that the ruler of Armenia, acting in agreement with Azerbaijan, first made a slanderous statement against the AAC at a government meeting, and today, with his ugly post on Facebook, set a new anti- record. "The goal of the authorities is very simple: to make the nation and the state unviable in the face of the destruction of the value system and moral norms, thereby accelerating the complete capitulation of the country," Tigran Abrahamyan emphasized.
Today, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan published an obscene insult against a bishop, and his wife called the clergy pedophiles. A literal translation of what was written goes beyond the bounds of decency, except perhaps like this: "Your Holiness, continue to have sex with your uncle's wife, what do you care about me?" After some time, he made another post: "We must ask ourselves how many of our bishops are faithful to the vow of celibacy?" Then another: "Some people are concerned that I am officially unmarried. Half of our spiritual elite is in the same situation, and some people are not concerned." And the last (for now): "And what happens when it turns out that a celibate priest has broken his vow of celibacy? He is stripped of his position, rank, and phylum. What is now more morally honest: to voluntarily resign or to embrace mental anguish? Let's see if there is an investigation, let's see if the truth comes out."
The day before, the head of the Armenian state said at a government meeting that the AAC resembles closets with junk collected in it. The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin responded to the statement. "It is regrettable that, commenting on such a delicate issue, even a person holding such a high position cannot help but demonstrate the lack of the now "fashionable" education (Pashinyan and his wife are conducting a campaign called "Education is fashionable" - ed.), as well as an internal crisis of correct public communication and deep understanding of the issues," wrote the head of the chancery of the Mother See, Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan on his Telegram channel.
